Types of Alcohol Rehab Facilities

Rehab facilities may vary but they all share a common aim and that is to help addicts recover from their addiction. Many facilities today concentrate on detoxification. The process can be done in a hospital in which a minimum of 10 days is required for the personnel to totally free the person from alcoholic elements. Although hospitals can accommodate this, the danger of withdrawal can harm other patients that is why it is recommended that detoxification is done in a rehab facility that can fully supply and facilitate the safety of the patient and the people around him

Alcoholics can still undergo treatment without confining themselves in a rehab center. Outpatient treatments are applicable to those who are less dependent on alcohol and the severity of their addiction is still containable. This is also applicable to those who have been in a facility and are deemed sober and alcohol free. Outpatients are closely monitored by rehab facility personnel assigned to them and are required to attend counseling on schedule.

Inpatient treatment is applicable to those who have severe alcohol dependency. It is required to be able to monitor them 24 hours a day and induce medical treatment whenever needed. Inpatients are considered totally dependent of alcohol and needs close monitoring. This is also to give immediate help in situations such as relapse and intense urge to give in to their addiction.

Adolescent addiction rehab is a rehabilitation option that specializes in the treatment of adolescent patients. Treatment of younger generation on alcohol abuse is different from adults. The formulation of counseling techniques is more defined and requirements to help them become sober are more intense.

Faith based rehabilitation refers to the patient’s willingness to enter a facility out of his faith on himself and his ability to fully cooperate with the rehab personnel for the glory of freedom from alcoholism. It is similar to Christian alcohol rehabs which involve a great deal of counseling and help from support groups.

There are other forms of alcohol rehab facilities that offer more and even detailed process of leading an alcoholic person to sobriety. A person may choose according to his preferences and the severity of his addiction.

Who has not experienced the difficulty of looking for good Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers? There are so many facilities offering the same overpromising results across the USA, and as they say, no two cases of addiction are entirely the same. How do you know if the Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers on your shortlist are the right ones?

Thorough and balanced treatments

While not all Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers approach addiction the same way, the successful ones do have things in common. Their programs are all well-balanced and give weight to both the physiological and the psychological elements behind alcoholism. They also do not just dish out template rehabilitation treatments. They actually take the time to customize their programs so that they can meet all the specific needs of their patients. After all, no two cases of addiction are completely the same. When you treat alcoholism with cookie-cutter programs, you’re bound to overlook a lot of things.

Ideal environments

You’ve probably seen flyers of luxury Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers. Most of them have big rooms and they’re also situated in the most pristine nature spots in the country. It is easy to think that they’re only selling whimsical perks—ones which obviously cannot be enjoyed by those who sign up in public rehab facilities. What they forget to mention is how these perks can actually affect one’s progress in rehab.

Studies have shown that the more ideal the Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers themselves are for the healing of the mind as well as the body, the higher the chances are for recovery. You certainly cannot expect patients to fall in love with life again when you contain them in a depressing room surrounded by gray walls. Luxury rehabilitation centers, with spaces that are conducive to complete rehabilitation, on the other hand, help patients to appreciate life and respect their bodies again. Those who sign up in luxury Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers are just more likely to overcome their addictions completely.

Strong outpatient support

Excellent inpatient programs are always attractive features for Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers. However, treatment shouldn’t stop the moment the patient is out of the facility. As a matter of fact, outpatients should receive, if not double the support, just as much support as inpatients. You need to remember that most relapse cases happen during the outpatient phase of the rehab. This is because the recovering addict is exposed to alcoholism triggers again, as opposed to the controlled conditions inside the facility.

To help him/her overcome alcoholism, the family’s support needs to be there. Most Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers (the responsible ones, anyway) make sure that their programs involve the family. They should, ideally, also provide peer counseling sessions to recovering outpatients.

Important note

While choosing the best Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers do help make complete recovery possible, it is not the only element that should be considered. Other things, including the patient’s resolve to get better, play a big part in the success or failure of the rehab. As long as the patient received the treatment well, relapses are least likely to happen. A patient who keeps on rejecting the rehab program, on the other hand, will never receive the full benefits of his/her rehab, no matter how efficient the program is.
