In the state of Nebraska, the Drug Enforcement Administration states that Methamphetamine is the major problem for law enforcement agencies. Not only with individuals that are abusing the drug, but also due to the transshipping of Mexican methamphetamine across Interstate 80. Alcohol abuse does exist in Nebraska, but is not a high-ranking problem as other more dangerous drug abuse such as meth. For residents seeking help for their addiction problem, Nebraska is home to 107 alcohol and drug abuse treatment centers. Those needing help will be able to choose from a wide range of options including out patient care to resident care according the drug abuse program or alcohol rehab program that best fits your needs.

Overall, Nebraska is below the national average when it comes to drug abusers or alcohol abusers that do not receive adequate help for their addition. Out of the 107 facilities available, 87% provide outpatient care and 40% offer residential care. The majority of patients often do better with programs where they live at the facility. The reason is that the program helps the person to begin living life on a day-to-day basis without their addiction.

All individuals and families that are suffering with substance abuse should seek help from a professional. The majority of drug and alcohol treatment centers offer screening and evaluation services, which help a person, decide the type of treatment would be best in their situation.
