This program has been a major help in stopping homeless people from more encounters with the law. The programs have had a lot of success since the time of its creation.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration is a widely known alcohol and drug abuse treatment and reference center. They have helped millions of people overcome their addictions. They develop the treatment you need on an individual basis. An adult may need one type of treatment while another adult will need something very different. This treatment centers works with an individual to help each person kick their habit in their own way. They have programs to help families that have parents with drug abuse or alcohol abuse problems. No matter what the drug abuse problem might be, learning how to cope with the situation whether the person needing help is the abuser or a family member, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration works to help each person overcome drug or alcohol abuse.

The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University has stated that they spend over 15% of their state budget just on substance abuse and addiction abuse and the consequences from it. Some of the consequences are health care, criminal justice, child welfare just to name a few. The main money goes for treatment centers and research to help prevent drug and alcohol abuse. Mississippi spends a billion dollars a year on programs for drug and alcohol abuse.
