There are all kinds of drug treatment programs but the most successful is the inpatient treatment program. For anyone wishing to stop abusing drugs or alcohol there are all kinds of treatment programs to help you kick the habit from outpatient care to inpatient treatment programs. Any addiction can lead to all kinds of problems with family, friends, and work. An inpatient treatment program helps the addict twenty-four hours a day while they are in the program to help them, not only rid their body of the drug but also learn to live life without any addiction in their hand or in the back of their minds.

An inpatient treatment program will take the patient out of his or her environment and place them in a drug and alcohol free atmosphere. They will no longer be in their comfort zone so to speak with the drug pusher on the corner, the stress at work, and of course, all the other struggles of life. Without all the interruptions, the patient will be able to work on their problems and learn how to handle the situations that cause them to drink or use drugs. With the inpatient treatment program the entire day is scheduled with such activities as chores, attending classes on drug abuse, counseling, and even time to talk with others in the program.

Most people think of hospitals when they think of inpatient treatment programs, however, this is not true at all. In most cases, hospitals only work with the first stage of treatment, which is detox after that a person is on their own. Most inpatient treatment programs are in homes that have been converted to a treatment center. This casual setting often helps the patients feel more at home but with supervision, medical care, and balance.

The various inpatient treatment programs include inpatient short term and inpatient long term residential. With inpatient short term, a person can expect to stay in the facility for thirty days. This type of program usually focuses on medical stabilization, abstinence, and lifestyle changes. With inpatient long-term residential programs, a person can stay in these programs several months or up to a year or more.

Anyone that has an alcohol or drug abuse problem should learn more about the options with the inpatient treatment programs in their state. The best treatment programs, or the ones that have been more successful, are ones that treat the whole person. This means that they do not stop after drug detox, but delve into the reason the person has an addiction through counseling and therapy along with providing group support. In order for a person to recover from an addiction, he or she must first realize they have a problem and be ready to accept the help from an abuse program such as an inpatient treatment program. Along with this, the person needs a good support group.
