When recovering from alcohol addiction, in-patient alcohol treatment centres are an advisable option. These are supportive environments where trained professionals can manage detox and rehabilitation programmes for patients.

Those suffering from severe alcohol addiction need this level of support because unmanaged detoxification from heavy use of alcohol can have potentially fatal side effects. Trained professionals can create a treatment plan for patients including medicated withdrawal and stabilisation.

These recovery centres allow patients to stay for a number of days or weeks and concentrate on their recovery, without the distractions from the outside world. Where as if someone uses out-patient services, they are still living at home and can be more easily distracted.

In-patient alcohol treatment centres need to be calming and relaxed and are often decorated in neutral colours, with comfortable furnishings that allow the patient to de-stress. The aim is for in-patient facilities to be homely not clinical.

As patients are often sharing in-patient facilities with others, there also needs to be a welcoming and inclusive feel. Work is often done in groups to encourage social interaction, but there must also be room for privacy when needed.

The overall aim of in-patient treatment centres is to encourage recovery and offer support so that patients can develop the strength to leave their alcohol addiction behind and start a new chapter in their lives.

Wellington Lodge are an in-patient alcohol treatment centre based in London. They offer managed medicated withdrawal from alcohol in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Patients receive high levels of support whilst staying at the clinic and receive aftercare to enable them to maintain an alcohol free lifestyle. Alcohol addiction may be present when one is seen as sweating, nauseous, shaky, or mentally unstable when not able to obtain an intoxicating liquid substance. The more one drinks the higher doses will be needed for someone addicted to feel that ‘high’, or ‘buzz’. Drinking can potentially ruin your families, friends, and your own life. Drinking is a risk which you must be able to keep under control and moderate from time to time. Many health problems are associated with excessive alcohol consumption such as cancer, heart disease, brain damage, and liver disease. Excessive consumption of alcohol leads to brain cell loss, and may disturb brain processes necessary to retrieve and process normal day thoughts and information. Large consumption may cut off or shorten the oxygen supply and cause a blackout. Abusers may suffer from bone weakness and immune deficiencies. Most victims of alcohol are very defensive about their habits. They hate hearing anything pertaining to it, and most of all they try so hard to convince themselves that there is absolutely nothing wrong with what kind of habit their falling into. In fact, many victims are very secretive about their drunken nature that they regularly disguise their appearance and interactions with others. Psychological and physical harm is being done every second they are not looking for a solution to settle the addiction.

Alcohol withdrawal, or an abrupt stop of alcohol consumption can completely remove a balance of alcohol which replaced a once present neuroinhibitor syncope. Both are now gone and the body may act uncontrollably, resulting in many synapses. This may lead to hallucinations, convulsions, heart failure, seizures; all of which is known as the ‘jitterbugs’. ‘Jitterbugs is known as an acute episode of delirium that is usually caused by withdrawal from alcohol, first described in 1813’. Treatment is quite varied as there are many different perspectives for the condition. A common treatment however, would be to discontinue ones alcohol supply while reinstating social connections to keep there mind intact and on track. After alcohol consumption has been discontinued psychological interferences can be dealt with by attending ‘group sessions’ and or psychotherapy. Another way one might face the issue is to take medication to ease the issue into complete sobriety. As a side note, you want to be sure to keep your metabolic system intact in order to eliminate unstable behavior, which is preventable.

A New Zealand study concluded that your risk of major depression increases steadily as a result of alcohol consumption, not the other way around. Intoxicating liquors may trigger genetic makeup that clinches the body into needing something it shouldn’t. Alcohol affects the mind, body, and soul which clearly means you should steer clear of it or use it in moderation in order to prevent this from happening to you. Remember, if your going to drink, be smart. Don’t drink and drive, ALWAYS be in control.

Drugs and alcohol are a huge problem that our society faces today. Many people who want to quit find themselves unable to do so on their own, so they chose to go to a drug rehab or an alcohol rehab. When someone is addicted to drugs, they have built their whole life around the substance and the culture that goes with it. All of their friends will most likely be associated with the drug in one form or another. All of the places they frequent will be associated with drugs in one form or another.

There are several different forms of treatment for drugs or alcohol. They range from very low impact outpatient sessions or meetings to very intensive long term inpatient care. The type of rehab that would best suit the individual needs is not a decision to be taken lightly. Only after careful consideration, should a final decision be made. All factors should be taken into account; this will only help to make the very best possible decision. If the person in need has made several attempts to recover and only failed, then you definitely want to check out various longer term inpatient facilities. If they are fairly new to drug or alcohol abuse and badly want to cease from drinking or using, then support meetings or outpatient care may suffice. Usually something long term and pretty intensive is necessary. Again, choosing a rehab is a lifesaving decision, make it wisely.

An individual’s needs are unique. A treatment program should be, too. There is no such thing as one-size-fits-all when it comes to addiction treatment. There should not be a standard drug rehab program, facility or center. Counselors should develop a treatment plan that is unique to each and every individual as everyone is different and needs a variety of different issues addressed and handled. These are the aspects that successfully help others achieve true long-term sobriety.

Effective drug and alcohol addiction treatment philosophy incorporates a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional methods, employing both Western and Eastern medical techniques. Utilizing the talents of some of the best practitioners and experienced counselors in the world is what makes rehabilitation and rehab successful and effective and gives individuals hope at a bright future. Allowing individuals to achieve long lasting sobriety and have a chance at a good clean and sober life is the main goal and prerogative. Successful drug rehab and alcohol rehab will change your life.
