Q&A: USPS Recovery Center?

Question by Louis J: USPS Recovery Center?
I ordered a VHS from a seller and sent him $ 8 for shipping…the guy uses Media Mail(why I do not know). But after about 2weeks the tracking number says ”
Status: Dead Mail / Sent to Mail Recovery Center” It has said this for about a week.

I called the USPS and they said they would contact the recovery center when it arrives. How long does a package tack to arrive and how what is the chance of me getting my package.

Can I file a paypal claim and get my money back?

Also, what makes a package become “dead mail”

For some reason or another, apparently your seller put a bad address on your package, and did not put his return address on it. Media Mail is not forwardable and it was sent to the Mail Recovery Center. It will probably take a couple of weeks to hear from the USPS. If you want to get the VHS tape, you will probably have to pay to get it. I would file a claim with Pay Pal. Submit the information from the Track and Confirm when you file your complaint and you should be issued a refund.

Your seller would have paid about $ 5 for Priority Mail. He paid less than $ 3 for Media mail.

“Dead mail” can consist of: a) First class mail that cannot be delivered and has no return address; b) Parcel Post packages that cannot be delivered as addressed or are refused and appear to have some value; and c) Media Mail that cannot be delivered as addressed or are refused and appear to have some value.
