Massachusetts is home in the northeastern part of the United States with a large coastal area. Cocaine addiction is one of the major drug problems in the state causing many individuals to seek help through drug abuse centers. The majority of cocaine is brought into the state from New York City, Florida, Georgia, or even from the US and Mexican border. The drug is brought into the state via vehicles equipped with hidden compartments, tractor-trailers, trucks, and the postal service. Most of the cocaine that is transported into Massachusetts is converted to crack cocaine, which is one of the largest drug abuse problems in the state.
Heroin is the next drug on the list for being a large problem among drug abuse center patients. The majority of heroin found in the state is brought here from New York City by way of the interstate. A few cases of heroin in Massachusetts are seen from Columbian drug cartel transporting the drug via ships at sea. The majority of the heroin drug trade is controlled by the Colombian and Dominican cartels.
Methamphetamine drug abuse problems are not as major as other drug problems in the state. In most cases, the majority of Methamphetamine found in the state was shipped from California via the roadways or the US postal service. The age of the individuals seen with a Methamphetamine drug abuse problem is in their 20’s and 30’s or in the homosexual communities. The abuse of club drugs such as MDMA has risen in the state over the last decade.
Marijuana addiction is another drug abuse problem in the state with many individuals seeking help from drug abuse treatment centers. Marijuana is smuggled into the state from southern states from Mexico. The last few years, marijuana has also been seen from Jamaica and Columbia. On the other hand, most marijuana drug abusers would prefer to use BC Bud smuggled in from Canada, which is the most potent marijuana found in the US.
In the state of Massachusetts, oxycodone is at the top of the list of drug abuse problems in the pharmaceutical drugs category. However, other pharmaceutical drugs are causing drug abuse problems in the state including Percocet, Roxicet, Oxycontin, methadone, Vicodin, Xanax, and Percodan. Alcohol is of course another problem in the state, just as it is throughout the United States. Massachusetts has many different drug and alcohol treatment centers that will help every person conquer their addictions in order to live a happy and healthy drug free lifestyle.
